Frog's In Sri lanka


Karunaratne's narrow-mouthed frog
Endemic Amphibians in Sri Lanka
Family : Microhylidae
Scientific Name : Microhyla karunaratnei






Snout-vent length of mature males of type series 15.8-19.1 mm, 19.6 mm in the only female examined. Head broader than long. Species restricted to wet forests up to 1100 m. Found on wet leaf litter.



Grey-brown pug snouted frog
Endemic Amphibians in Sri Lanka
Family : Microhylidae
Scientific Name : Ramanella obscura



Body habitus globular. Maximum snout-vent length 32.0 mm. Head broader than long. Dorsal colour (in life) organish-brown with black spots on snout. It is distributed throughout the low country wet zone.



Conicalwart pygmy tree frog
Endemic Amphibians in Sri Lanka
Family : Rhacophoridae
Scientific Name : Theloderma schmarda




A small frog; snout-vent length of mature individuals 23.0mm-25.6 mm. Head longer than broad. In life, dorsal colour light green to dark brown. Recorded from the Central hills and Knuckles range, up to 2300 m. Found in both ground and on bushes.







Spurless pygmy tree frog

Family : Rhacophoridae
Scientific Name : Philautus temporalis



A small Philautus: snout-vent length of mature males 20.0-22.3 mm, gravid females 22.8 - 27.7 mm. Head longer than broad. In life, dorsum and limbs yellowish brown. Restricted to wet zone. Found in leaf litter in shaded forests of the wet zone.
